The Earth's Surface Temperature Reach Record Highs Six Months In A Row.

Warmest June on Record Globally: According to a report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration  or NOAA. Last month was the warmest June on record globally. It is sobering to note that this is the fourth consecutive month in a row of record high temperatures worldwide (footnote State of Climate Report July 16, 2010 National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) With the inclusion of July's record we now have six months of record global highs in a row.
"The State of the Climate Report", released in early July tells of warmer-than-average conditions across  nearly all continents, including much of the United States. Previously the warmest June on record was in 2005. June marked a record low in Arctic sea ice as well.  This makes it all but impossible for Polar Bears to prey on its main diet - seals.  Give your prayers that the Polar Bear's will adapt and learn new hunting skills for the ice free Summers.
Even though the Global sea surface temperatures ranked the fourth-warmest on record, it was the combination of both land and sea anomalies that pushed the June 2005 record to the 2010 high. The same is expected for July and
August as well.
The debate regarding global warming is over.  Our planet is heating up.  Whether that is from human activity or not can be debated and what the effects we should expect  are fair to be argued.  However, no one can dispute the fact that our global average temperature is on the rise and so far nothing effective has been done to curtail the heat from greenhouse gases.

Video Games That Give and Take

A segment of a social networkSegment of a social network Image via Wikipedia
Wouldn't it be great if you could earn real bonuses or punishments in exchange for your video game-play. For instance you could cash in your virtual coins for coupons for your favorite places.  If you loose and get game over then you are locked out for at least 12 hours. Yes, real consequences. What if you could get bonus keys to unlock additional features of a game in exchange for good grades and attendance? What power we could return to the parents.

We are working on creating just such a game that involves live interaction via avatar where you go on real quests in the real world and receive points to unlock deeper features of the game.  The name is CosmoSapien-MMXII and it will involve real world activities using social networks and resources beyond the gameworld. We want to work with someone like School Loop to integrate game play coupons with grades and attendance.  If you pull of perfect attendance in school you will earn a reward that contains coupons that unlike various segments of the game and give you classified info with hints and shortcuts. Each "A" earns free game-play.  What about the B's and C's, sorry there is no second place in the world of CosmoSapien.

Teachers can also give game play as rewards for various academic achievements. Parents and teachers working together for the benefit of the player.  The game itself has to be pretty good for the incentives to work but here is a twist.  Individual players are represented in the game with an avatar. Many of the challenges and quests are in First Life for which the player gains wealth and power in the game.  All of this creates a players reputation that follows them into the gameworld. Your success depends on your ability to enlist others to your cause or quest.  The line between First Life and Second Life are blurred as you work together with your teammates to find the solution or accomplish the task.  You live and die by your reputation and a very large active network of friends definitely gets the job done.

It literally pays to be a good citizen in both worlds.  Your teachers and parents can reward you with money in the currency of CosmoSapien

CosmoSapien Defined and DeConstructed

We are Homo sapiens and we live inside a Cosmo-Sapient Multi-verse
Homo which means man, and sapiens translates as wise or knowing gives us Wise Man.
cosmo- definition
   cosmo- (käzmō, -mə)
world, universe cosmology
Etymology: < Gr kosmos, universe, world, order
sa·pi·ent (pē ənt)
  1. full of knowledge; wise; sagacious; discerning
  2. of or relating to the existing human species (Homo sapiens)
Etymology: ME < L sapiens, prp. of sapere, to taste, know: see sap
Webster's New World College Dictionary Copyright © 2010

Therefore it means: World or Universe Full of Knowledge; wise; sagacious; and discerning.
Cosmossapiens has way to many s'. I also want to remove any plurality or polarity caused by excessive "s'"  So cosmossapiens becomes CosmoSapien and the secret I want to share with you is the secret of Quintessence in the Multi-Verse.

Thought for the day:
Seek to understand the universe and you shall understand nothing,
seek to understand one's self and the universe unfolds before you.
